An Architecture competition initiated by Akzonobel and Himpunan Desain Interior Indonesia ( HDII ), the aim is to design a 35 m² living space, functionally and liveable for the inhabitants who live inside.

First of all, Djehovan create a design approach for the homes of elderly. Besides being able to accommodate the daily needs, it must extend life expectancy also increase productivity of the elderly.

The basic idea of the design process is divided into 4 subunits, they are :

  1. ACTIVITY and INTERACTION ; Homes is a context that gives opportunities to interact and communication activity which is familiar with the inhabitants and the surrounding environment. On the design approach of homes for the elderly, it must cover up the characteristic and daily activities
  2. SPACE and CIRCULATION ; Due to the degeneration of ability, it needs extra planning in order to facilitate the elderly to access all the room. Open space intentionally placed in the center area as a transition and supplying air circulation as well as sunlight
  3. FURNITURE DESIGN and MATERIAL SELECTION ; Furniture design selection based on characteristics and daily activities of the elderly, can accommodate the aspects of safety, comfort and interoperability functions for the elderly. Furniture design will be able to increase the confidence and ability to control the elderly
  4. SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGY ;  Green building system are applied to this building, they are : a) the use of materials that can be recycled and environmentally friendly. b) minimize the use of an artificial light because the room has sufficient natural lighting. c) reducing water used by applying reuse and recycle on the rainwater catchment. d) provide an urban farming in order to help meet food needs. e) the used of solar panels and photosynthesis technology
