Reading is one of the proven ways to help Down Syndrome children overcome some of their difficulties. By learning to read, they will be able to communicate, collaborate and connect with the environment around them. 80% of these children have hearing loss and weakness of their short-term memory Auditory so that they experience disturbances in the development of communication and grammar. But they have the advantage that Visual memory works more effectively than auditory memory, this makes it easier to introduce objects or teach to do things visually rather than verbally.

HEKKSA is an Interactive Reading Flash card for Down Syndrome children. It helped their learning process of reading. Shaped modular hexagon, each modular is equipped with a joint unit that can be used to connect between HEKKSA’s modular.

The main function of HEKKSA : 1. “Matching images/writing according to what they see” aims to train their memory visually. 2. “Selecting an images/writing according to what they hear” aims to train their memory auditory. 3. “Selecting and mentioning images/writing according to their own desires” aims to train visual memory and auditory simultaneously. 4. “compile some HEKKSA’s modular to form a simple sentence structure” aims to introduce grammar and vocabulary so that they can convey something and communicate with others independently.

HEKKSA can help Down syndrome children to convey what they feel and communicate with their surroundings so that these children can feel the connection between humans as well as the opportunity and the right to live a better life.
